Having dietary restrictions is hard especially if you want to eat out and don’t want to compromise on flavour. Luckily Toronto has a ton of places that cater to different diets and restrictions so you don’t have to miss out on anything. If you can’t have gluten but still love bread and pastries you’re going to want to try this bakery.
Located in St. Clair West Village, Wild Blue Bakery is a bakery offering various items that are 100% gluten-free.
The bakery’s menu offers an array of baked goods that you would find in any local bakery and grocery store including pizza, brownies, cookies, muffins, cakes, cinnamon rolls, and what they’re most known for are their bagels. Wild Blue Bakery also offers up daily specials where you can get items like Nanaimo bars, lemon bars, challah bread, and cinnamon rolls on specific days of the week.
If you’re looking for a cake to celebrate any occasion, you can custom order a six-inch round cake or slab cake that comes in chocolate, vanilla, or red velvet. There are also six different frosting flavours to choose from that you can pick for your cake including chocolate, vanilla, cream cheese, salted caramel, gluten-free Oreo, and Toblerone.
Not a big cake fan? You can even order a giant custom brownie instead that can also be decorated just like a sheet cake. The giant brownie is equivalent to eight brownies!
All of the baked foods are always made in-house from scratch using the highest quality 100% gluten-free ingredients available.
Wild Blue Bakery is most known for its bagels that don’t compromise on their flavour just because they’re gluten-free. There are five different bagel flavours you can get including sesame, poppy seed, everything, jalapeno cheddar and cinnamon raisin. They also have a concoction called a Bagel Bomb, which is basically their everything bagel dough baked in a ball that is filled with cream cheese in the middle. Think a savoury bagel timbit!
If you want to try your hand at making gluten-free pastries at home, a selection of flour mixes, pizza dough and buns are also available to purchase and take home.
You can find Wild Blue Bakery at 366 Oakwood Avenue. They’re open Thursday to Sunday.
Let us know if you’ve tried one of their bagels and which one is your favourite flavour.
