A croissant. The perfect flaky pastry to start your day with but also the perfect vessel for any sandwich. They come in so many different flavours like chocolate, pistachio, almond, and the list goes on. If you’re looking for a fun way to have your flaky pastry, head over to Little Pebbles as this cafe is changing the way croissants are shaped.
Situated in the heart of Kensington Market, Little Pebbles is a fusion cafe, that puts a Japanese twist on French pastries.
The menu consists of cakes, croissants and croffles of various flavours including matcha, strawberry, chocolate, and pistachio.
The croissants weren’t always the specialty at the cafe but when they saw that customers loved them, they shifted their focus to concentrate on the flaky pastry.
The cubed croissants started off as a secret menu item but became so popular they made the decision to add it to their permanent menu and has become a hit ever since. When they were a secret menu item, the cubed croissants were made using the leftover dough from the regular croissants but now they make batches of layered dough cut into squares, proofed in a cube mold then baked. The entire process of making a cubed croissant is 24 hours.
If you can’t get enough of their croissants, you can also try one of their croffles, a croissant that is pressed in a waffle iron. The croffles come in both sweet and savoury.
Looking for something to wash it down? The cafe is also serving up coffee and tea with coffee provided by de Mello Palheta, which you can even take a bag home with you. They’re also serving up matcha lattes with ceremonial grade matcha from Uji, Kyoto.
