Happy Cinco De Mayo! Here are 5 Mexican Restaurants to eat at in Toronto.
1. z-teca
Locations: 175 Bloor Street E, 444 Yonge Street, 199 Bay Street, Unit C-168, 130 King Street West, 5150 Yonge Street, Unit 7, 120 Bremner Boulevard, 3365 Steeles Avenue East, 40 Eglinton Avenue East
We might be a bit biased, but z-teca is easily our favourite and the most affordable Mexican Restaurant on the list. z-teca is fast casual food with real ingredients, found locally. The roast their tomatoes every day in house, the tortillas are made fresh constantly and are truly elite. And it’s not pretentious, just good food made by a Canadian company.
2. Wilbur Mexicana
Location: 552 King St W, Toronto, ON M5V 1M3
Apothecary-inspired counter serves Mexican street food like tacos & burritos. They have no social media presence whatsover, not even a website, which is super weird because their vibe inside is trendy and modern. Food is great though, try it yourself!
3. Quetzal Toronto
Location: 419 College St
Vibrant outpost offering upscale Mexican cuisine & craft cocktails in a sleek, modern dining room. If you’re looking for fine dining, Quetzal is a one Michelin Star Restaurant. Try the Tasting Menu!
4. Playa Cabana
Location: 111 Dupont St
If you’re looking for a good range of tequila, this is the spot. Cozy spot with a funky, rustic vibe offering modern Mexican fare.
5. La Carnita
Locations: 106 John St, 130 Eglinton Ave E, 501 College St, 780 Queen St E
If you’ve seen pictures of tacos against a street art background, it probably was taken here. Known for their bold use of street art and design, the vibe in La Carnita is pretty cool. We’re a fan of their cocktail menu, specifically the Lilac Marg.
