This Toronto Japanese spot is making fresh udon noodles daily

Udon. The perfect noodle to have in a stir fry or even in soup. There are a ton of Japanese restaurants in Toronto that are serving up bowls of the wheat flour noodle but one restaurant is making their udon noodles fresh daily.

Located at Yonge and College, Sanuki Udon is a Japanese restaurant that specializes in Sanuki-style udon noodles. They make their own udon noodles from scratch every day in the restaurant using a custom machine. The noodles are then inspected to check for consistency and freshness.

The noodles are boiled for exactly ten minutes before they’re served to get the best texture. There is only one udon noodle made that is either served hot or cold.

Although there is only one type of noodle, there are numerous amount of menu items including traditional hot soup udon in different variations but their most popular is their Signarurw A7 Wagyu Beef Udon.

They also serve up their cold udon, known as zaru udon, which is perfect for the warmer months. Since the noodles are served cold, they have a firmer texture than when served in a hot soup. The zaru udon is also served with a concentrated cold stock which you can pair with chicken karaage or shrimp tempura.

You can also order additional side dishes to go with either your hot or cold noodles if you want more toppings.

Let us know if you’re a fan of udon and if you’ve ever tried the noodles in a cold broth.
